A traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a Goodwater man on a marijuana charge earlier this month.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that on July 1, Deputy Kelley was on routine patrol when he came in contact with a vehicle for a traffic violation. Kelley conducted a traffic stop and could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
While Kelley was running the driver’s information through dispatch, he observed the driver reaching around in his pockets.
After patting the driver down and searching the vehicle, Kelley reportedly found marijuana inside the vehicle.
This led to 28-year-old Victor Lewis Dowdell Jr. being arrested and charged with second-degree possession of marijuana.
His bond was set at $2,500. He was released on bond on July 2 to await trial.
