During a called meeting held June 17, the Board of Education approved resignations and some new hires ahead of its regular monthly meeting.
With Board members Joe Belyeu and Sharon Coffman absent from the called meeting, the remaining members unanimously approved all personnel matters.
That included three approved resignations. Those were for Central High School automotive technology instructor, Jarrod Washington, effective May 29; and Central Elementary School teachers Ashley Hicks and Susan Newsome, both effective July 1.
There were also eight certified recommendations approved for the 2026-2027 school year. All of those new hires were approved pending completion of requirements.
Those include Stephanie Kines, Lindsey Robertson, Natalie Thomas, and Raequan Beal as Central Elementary School teachers; Connie Carraway as a Central High School English teacher; Ryan Engle as a Central High School mathematics teacher; Bethany Forbus as a Central High School Education in Training teacher; and Robert Aaron Osbourn as a Central Elementary School special education teacher.
The Board of Education then held its regular monthly meeting on June 25, with the agenda including annual bids and contracts, as well as two resignations, a retirement and more certified recommendations for new hires. The names of the new hires will be available later this month when minutes are approved.
The next regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Coosa County Board of Education will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 23.
