A Sylacauga man was arrested on a drug-related charge following a routine traffic stop late last month.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that on April 26, Deputy Kelley was on routine patrol on U.S. Highway 280 and observed a vehicle with a broken taillight.
Kelley initiated a traffic stop, and while talking with the driver, Deputy Parker also arrived on the scene. They could smell the odor of marijuana, and Kelley conducted a Terry frisk and received consent to search the driver’s person.
Standard field sobriety tests were conducted, and the driver failed all of the tests.
While conducting a search of the vehicle, deputies retrieved a brown box from the vehicle that contained 56 different combinations of brands of THC vape pens and gummies.
Ultimately 39-year-old Barry Logan McArdle was arrested and charged with possession of synthetic narcotics.
His bond was set at $5,000, and he was released on bond on April 28 to await trial.
