Equality & NIxburg News

While working in the yard and garden I had many ideas of what to write in my column this week. But here sitting in front of my laptop my mind is not recalling a single topic. It is like being back in school and the teacher gave an assignment, and my mind was excited with all the possibilities, but once I grabbed my paper and pencil my brain locked up.
I did get some perennials in the front garden, but did not get the large roots removed in order to move the fence as of yet. I was distracted with my vegetable garden preparations, as well as rehoming five turkey toms and gaining five ducks to replace the ones the predators got last summer.
There has been some small-town drama of late with a neighbor’s house being broken into while it was unoccupied while the family is dealing with the affairs of the estate. Another neighbor witnessed another resident at the estate in the same time frame as the break-in and theft of items. There have been growing issues ever since a person from another city decided to hire “off the books” labor to clean up and renovate the house that they purchased on our block.
I know, cryptic and you want names and details, so maybe more will come out at the Neighborhood Watch meeting.
Coosa County Live will not be open this Friday, March 28, as there is no booked performer. Last week’s karaoke had no participants so it closed early, and likely karaoke will be removed from the performing arts center’s offerings. We thank all those that continue to support Open Mic Night, which is always a lot of fun.
I hope you attended yesterday’s Equality Neighborhood Watch meeting. We had great attendance last time, as well as a great taco dinner with lots of fixins. Dave Dial really brings it together as a great community meal. Hope you join us next month for community updates, fellowship and a great meal.
The Equality Volunteer Fire Department’s First Saturday Fundraising event is next Saturday, April 8. Please participate with baked goods, rummage sale donations and participation. Donations for breakfast, lunch, bake sale, and rummage sale all go to support the efforts needed to keep our fire department well equipped and growing to support our community.
It starts at 8 a.m. and closes at 1 p.m. Come early and stay or come early and return for lunch. Either way you won’t be disappointed with the fellowship and support of our community.
I depend upon my readers to share with me what is happening within your organizations, churches, neighborhoods, groups, or family to share in next week’s column. Please contact me; leave a voice message or text 256-531-6460 or email at coosacafe@gmail.com.
