Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
In last week’s column I hoped everyone survived the cold and was sad that we didn’t get any snow. Well, here we go again! Extremely cold, possibly record-breaking cold, and chances of snow again. School was out for a couple of days in addition to the Monday holiday. So, maybe next time, I think is still the right response because there is no snow for us so far. How weird is it that the very southern parts of the state got snow? Mobile and Gulf Shores are getting snow, even in parts of Florida! Winter is not over yet!
By the time this is published, my newest great-grandbaby will be here. She will make number ten! I am so thankful for all of them and glad that most of them live close by.
However, this one is in California, at least for now. Her daddy is a Marine stationed at Twentynine Palms near Palm Springs. Hopefully he will be stationed closer by in the Carolinas by this fall.
The next Bingo night for the Richville Volunteer Fire Department will be Saturday, March 1, so mark your calendars and make plans to come out for a good time.
The Coosa County Historical Society is postponing its usual first quarter meeting in January to Sunday, February 23, at the Rockford Senior Center at 2 p.m. We have several items for discussion and encourage members to attend to vote on these matters.
If you haven’t paid dues for this year or want to join, the dues are $15. You can mail a check to P.O. Box 5, Rockford, AL 35136. Please include your email address to receive the newsletter or add $5 to receive printed copies, as well as your address.
Make plans to attend the training series “Conversations: A Simple Approach to Sharing the Gospel,” hosted by Union Baptist Church. This training will be put on by the Gideons, led by Scott Sparks, on February 5, 12 and 19 at 6 p.m. It is open to anyone interested in learning to share the Gospel.
Still working on reading through the entire Bible in 2025, which was one of my New Year’s resolutions. It’s never too late to start, so why not join me?
My Bible verses for this week are Psalm 94:18-19 which read, “If I say, ‘My foot is slipping,’ your faithful love will support me, Lord. When I am filled with cares, Your comfort brings me joy.”
What great verses to reassure us of God’s love and power. As we live and face temptations and anxieties, God is with us. God’s healing goes deeper than any wound we could have. No amount of troubles are too big for God to help us.
We should thank Jesus daily for always being with us. So often we try to depend on ourselves and others instead of turning our problems and worries over to God. He is much more trustworthy and always available.
Please be in prayer for all those that are sick in our community. But also, think about giving someone a call just to say hello; it will make a difference in their day. Many times, when we go out to spread blessings to others, it’s us that gets the blessing.
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has some news or an event to share, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com, but phone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message.
