Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
Hope everyone survived the cold weather last week. From all reports, we didn’t get much snow in the Richville area. I think some of the county did get some, but it was more north of us. Maybe next time!
The first bingo night of 2025 for the Richville Volunteer Fire Department had a good turnout with several new faces. We always have a great time and a lot of fun, so make plans to come out for the next one in March. More details later.
The Coosa County Historical Society will be postponing its January meeting to Sunday, February 23, at the Rockford Senior Center at 2 p.m. More information closer to the meeting.
Union Baptist Church will host a training series “Conversations: A Simple Approach to Sharing the Gospel.” This training will be put on by the Gideons, led by Scott Sparks, on February 5, 12 and 19 at 6 p.m. It is open to anyone interested in learning to share the Gospel.
My Bible reading plan to read through the entire Bible in 2025 is still lagging a little behind, but I’m working on catching up. So, my verse for this week is Romans 8:28 which reads, “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to his purpose.”
One of the key points that many people miss is that this verse applies to those who love God, believers. It doesn’t promise nothing bad or difficult challenges will happen to believers, but that God can use them for good.
We can know that as believers whatever happens, God will use it for our good. This doesn’t mean instant, but eventually that will all come together.
The other key point is the word “together.” An individual challenge might not make sense, but put together with others it all comes together. We should change our perspective and reorient ourselves regarding our circumstances.
While that’s easy to say, it’s hard to be in a difficult challenge and rely on this verse. Human nature does not follow that reasoning, but as Christians we have to push that aside and rely on God.
Please be in prayer for all those that are sick in our community. But also, think about giving someone a call just to say hello; it will make a difference in their day. Many times when we go out to spread blessings to others, it’s us that gets the blessing.
