Bro. Wayne Weeks, a special member of Rockford Church of God, saw his vision come to pass before he lost his earthly battle and passed recently.
Happy New Year, everyone! 2024 has been a year that I will never forget; one of the hardest years I have experienced with losing loved ones, starting in July through December. Every other week or month, someone close to me has died – sister, niece, nephew, cousin, and friends.
I have shed more tears than ever before; however, I still thank God for eyes to see and know He is with me through my sorrows and to know they are in a better place than this old world.
I thank family and friends for standing by my side, especially Butch. He has a small family, and I have a large one, and it seems every time we get through one of my family member’s deaths there is another one. He has never seen this happen before, but he stood tall. Thank you, dear.
We celebrated the Christmas holidays with Butch’s family on Christmas Eve and my family on Christmas Day, and both days were super great, although two days before Christmas we celebrated two loved ones’ homegoings and one two days after Christmas for some very special people – my niece Carrie, friend Hattie B. and a friend to everyone at Rockford Church of God, Bro. Wayne Weeks, a faithful, true man of God, whom everyone loved!
Bro. Weeks and his wife, Agnes, were two special positive people. I can write a written copy of their autobiography, but time won’t permit. However, they lived their story and lived it well!
However, it’s always good to honor such great people. Some years ago Bro. Weeks had a vision/prophecy, and he spoke it to the church. We all agreed and went outside and prayed over the land and claimed it then. COVID-19 struck and faith began to lessen to some. Bro. Weeks never lost faith.
Some years passed, and the owners died, but Weeks kept the faith with a smile on his face. Some weeks before Bro. Weeks lost the battle here on earth and went on to be with his wife, Mrs. Agnes, he was able to see his prophecy come to pass.
This great man was a true man of faith, and he loved God and his church family. I would tell him how I thought my mom had more faith than anybody until I met him. He’d just smile and say, “A grain of mustard seed.”
Butch and I, my nephews and their mom thought the world of Mr. and Mrs. Weeks. Their son, David, and my nephew Corey were roommates in college. Their daughter Teresa and my nephew Winfred were classmates. I love to hear Teresa sing. Last but not least, their daughter Melissa blessed them with the birth of twin boys for everyone to love, and oh, how Bro. Weeks loved his children and grandchildren.
Melissa also has a precious 11-year-old daughter. David’s sons are all grown boys, and they all are respectable children.
We all are going to miss Bro. Weeks. We still have tears falling, but we know he is at peace. Someone said, “If Weeks didn’t go to Heaven, no one will.”
We are praying for the Weeks families, the Tucks and Pope families, the Leverett families, and for all who are weeping.
Happy birthday to late December and early January babies.
