Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in this Thanksgiving season. I am thankful for all God has done for me and my family. I am thankful for friends and loved ones.
I send special thanks to some special people of God who not only served for their own well being, but for their communities and elsewhere, Mrs. JoEtta Maxwell, Minister Joann Shealey, Mrs. Mamie M. Ellis, and Mrs. Sheryl Borden, and a big “bravo” thanks to Mrs. Lynne Taylor and Mrs. Kayla Shone for prayers, and not just simple prayers, but great, faithful, open prayer with meditation, songs of praise, quiet worship, and answered prayers, and quickly.
Mrs. Taylor was the teacher for the hours of the powerful “Chosen Women Organization” at Rockford Church of God, spearheaded by Lady Mandy Hill. Mrs. Taylor taught and demonstrated how important and effective a prayer life can be. The Holy Spirit took control and led Mrs. Taylor in a direction to have us ladies to pull names from a holy box to pray for one another, and Mrs. Kayla Shone drew my name, and the rest is history.
Wow, what a blessing, and what prayers can do! That within itself helps me to be thankful.
“Give thanks always for all things unto God.” – Ephesians 5:20
“It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord.” – Psalm 92:1
Thanking God wherever I am helps to keep distressing at bay, and I love to praise Him! Psalm 69:30-32 shows you where praise and thanksgiving remove pride.
I thank God and praise Him for my 9-year-old god granddaughter, Kelseigh (Miss Princess) Sims, who the doctors said would not make it through the night (at birth). But look at God! Nine years later she is praising and thanking God for all things and has no pride in losing one battle, which was not hers anyway.
She and her mother went to vote, and the poll worker let her push the button that takes the ballot, and the poll worker gave her a sticker. See her wearing it proudly? She smiled and said, “I voted for Vice President Kamala Harris,” and when she discovered she lost her vote, she smiled and said, “I am still a winner,” and she is definitely a winner.
She is a very smart child, the smartest in her class. She sings and praises God in church, in school, and wherever she is she gives it all to God. I told her grandmother I believe she will preach one day. She loves Pastor Stanford and Lady Dorothy Benson to the moon and back.
If a child can be grateful and thankful, why can’t some of us old folks do the same thing?
Don’t forget, Union Square people, we are having our Christmas/Thanksgiving celebration and Neighborhood Watch meeting on Monday, December 2, at 6 p.m. Ladies, you know what to bring, and men, too.
Happy birthday to Union Square’s sweet sixteenth birthday, Kaylyn Gould, who is as sweet as she looks, a very precious, special young girl.
