The Sheriff’s Office recently made two arrests in unrelated cases for a grand jury indictment and an outstanding warrant, with both individuals being picked up from other agencies.
On September 9, Deputy Payton went to Clay County Jail and picked up Charles Danny Rainwater on a grand jury indictment for first-degree theft of property.
Rainwater; 40 years old, of Piedmont; was arrested on that charge September 9. His bond was set at $10,000, and he was released on bond Wednesday, September 25, to await trial.
Additionally, on September 23, Deputy Moeser picked up 38-year-old Marcus Avenger Kelly of Tuskegee from the Alexander City Police Department for warrants with the Sheriff’s Office.
Kelly was arrested for probation violation and failure to pay payment review for possession of a controlled substance.
Kelly’s bond was set at $500 for the FTA charge, but he received no bond for the probation violation charge. As of press time he remains in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
