Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
September signals a change of seasons. We start putting up all the sandals, shorts and bathing suits and begin to bring out fall stuff.
At one time, Labor Day was the beginning of school with new clothes and shoes. Now, they have been in school already a month.
While it’s still hot outside, the weather has started to cool just a little. I look forward to the upcoming fall days with the leaves falling and cooler temperatures.
I hope everyone had a fun and safe Labor Day. My weekend was a whirlwind. I just got home from a week-long cruise on Sunday. Then I had most of my family here that evening and back on Monday. We ate, played games and just enjoyed time with each other. Not complaining; I love hosting my family for holidays.
It’s finally here! The inaugural Providence Baptist Church Master’s Classic Bass Tournament will be tomorrow, September 7, at Lake Mitchell, Barrett’s Landing, starting at safe daylight. Weigh-in will be at 2 p.m. The church will be serving hot dogs and chips to all. This is a community event with all proceeds to be paid out in winnings. If you don’t fish, you are welcome to come out at 2 p.m. and watch the weigh-in.
The Richville Volunteer Fire Department wants to thank everyone for your support of their annual Labor Day Boston Butt sale. Also, the Richville Neighborhood Watch appreciates all who bought their baked goods.
Central High School football takes the road for the month of September. The varsity and junior volleyball teams are doing good. Congratulations on their wins.
The Old Rock Jail will be open again starting this Sunday through the second Sunday in October. Times are 2-4 p.m.
My Bible verse this week is about strength to encourage you in hard times. Psalm 73:26 reads, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
No matter what the challenge we face, we can turn to our Bibles for encouragement, help and strength. It seems many of us have had our strength and encouragement tested in this last week or two. There have been several families listed under bereavement on our church bulletin. Sometimes it seems we have been challenged more than before. But God’s Word tells us regardless of the circumstances, He is there. Our human bodies are not forever, but our spiritual bodies are forever if we’ve made that commitment to God. Regardless, He is always there with us even when we have doubts.
Our prayer list at church has many names that are suffering with cancer, as well as other physical and spiritual needs. Please pray for those in our community that are experiencing sickness, as well as those that are grieving with the loss of a loved one. We need to remember the shut-ins and their families, as well. So please pray for their healing in God’s will. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
