A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. Friday, August 9, has claimed the life of a Lowndesboro woman.
Elizabeth L. Mitchell, 57, was fatally injured when the 2008 Hummer H2 she was driving left the roadway and struck a sign before re-entering the roadway and eventually overturning. Mitchell was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on Old Selma Road near Cantelou Road, approximately two miles west of Montgomery, in Montgomery County.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
