Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
School is off to a good start. I helped in kindergarten on Tuesday. The first day is always a challenge for all students, but especially kindergarten babies.
They still need bottled water donated for those afternoon trips on those buses. If you can donate, you can drop off at the school.
The athletic programs at school are in full swing. Come out and support our athletic programs; this is our school, so support it! The first volleyball game will be on Thursday, August 22, starting at 4:30 at home playing Talladega. The junior varsity and varsity will both be playing. Then on Friday, August 23, will be our first football game of the season. It will be at home against Sylacauga. Come out and support our team and new coach, Daniel Flowers. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
Don’t forget Bingo at the Richville Volunteer Fire Department tomorrow night, August 10. Put it on your calendar now. We have a lot of fun while helping out the fire department. This will be the last one until after football season. They are selling Boston butts again for Labor Day weekend for $35 with pickup on Saturday morning, August 31, from 7 to 9.
Providence Baptist Church will have revival beginning Sunday morning, August 25, through Wednesday, August 28, for a total of five services. We also are planning a fishing tournament at Barrett’s Fish Camp on September 7. More details about that later, but put them on your calendar.
My Bible verses this week are about enjoying life. Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 reads, “I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and enjoy the good life. It is also the gift of God whenever anyone eats, drinks, and enjoys all his efforts.”
We should find joy in the present, appreciate the simple things and pleasures of life, while recognizing the values of generous and virtuous living. It reflects on the nature of our happiness and fulfillment. God instructs us to take joy with those we live with and love. Also to do good while on the job, serving our community and using the gifts He has given us. Life is short! We should enjoy what we have.
Changes are constant and inevitable, some good and others not so much. However, no matter what happens, God is with us.
We have had several deaths and illnesses in our community and surrounding areas. That fact alone should inspire us to not put things off. The Bible tells us that we are not promised tomorrow, so live life as if today is your last.
Our prayer list at church has many names that are suffering with cancer, as well as other physical and spiritual needs. Please pray for those in our community that are experiencing sickness, as well as those that are grieving with the loss of a loved one. We need to remember the shut-ins and their families, as well. So please pray for their healing in God’s will. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
