To my sisters:
In May, I received an invitation to a home-school graduation ceremony in Birmingham. When I arrived, I was shocked to find so many people of color at this event. I asked some of the parents why they chose home school. One stated because of bullying, fear for child safety, people pushing their religious values on their children, inexperienced teachers, the state being too involved in family decisions and not the education of their children in public school with little or no oversight in private schools. The punishment was not given to children fairly.
Please keep watching how school vouchers are dispensed in Alabama. A school can reject your children for their religion, disability, test scores, native language, and if they aren’t “a good fit.” You can thank the Supreme Court of the United States and your legislators. All of our children in schools are not Christians.
The Supreme Court justices, with the approval of the Catholic church, are once again trying to prove their superior control with bipartisan legislative support. In 1455, Pope Nicholas supported Spain and Portugal to mass kidnapping and enslavement of Africans to Christianize and enslave them. In 1493, the pope issued a decree called “Inter Caetera’’ which authorized Spain and Portugal to colonize, convert, the Americas and its Native people as subjects. It justified the enslavement of Africans.
In 1861, the Roman Catholic church taught slavery was not unlawful “if proceeded from a legitimate war or voluntary sale.” The Catholic church spoke out against slavery in 1888, 25 years after slavery was abolished in the United States.
The Supreme Court has a history of ruling in favor of people who will profit. The Roman Catholic church and other religious groups have lobbied Congress and received billions of tax payers’ dollars with the approval of the Supreme Court.
In 1846, Dred and Harriett Scott filed a lawsuit in the court for their freedom. This case was from 1846-1857. The first Roman Catholic, conservative, property-conscious Federalist, Republican, Democratic, Supreme Court Justice Rogers B. Taney stated slavery was evil before being placed on the court. However, after elected on the court, he ruled “all blacks – slaves as well as free – were not and could never become citizens of the United States, and they are inferior.” He lied to get accepted to the Supreme Court.
Slave holders in the South were not the only people to profit from slavery. American history books have not told the whole truth demonizing the Southern landowner and buried the ills of the Roman Catholic church. The Catholic church relied on plantations and slave labor to maintain the lavish lifestyle of the priests and nuns, and to support their schools and religious projects.
The Catholic church is a danger to our freedom if school money is used to indoctrinate our children. The Native America had the Carlisle Indian Industrial School staffed by Christian denominations, including Catholics. In Alabama, we had the Mount Meigs Industrial School and the Catholic Mission. Children were alleged to be abused and traumatized. Their crime was as simple as loitering or being an orphan. Where are the records, Alabama and the Catholic church?
Please read the definition of what the Counter-Reformation means. Protestantism as we see it will be forever changed if the Supreme Court continues to be ruled by a Catholic majority.
“If anyone says, I love God and hates his brother, he is a liar; for who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.” – I John 4:20
