Special to the News
You can already feel the energy and excitement at Keith Bullard Stadium as new head football Daniel Flowers began leading summer football workouts this week after being approved for hire by the Board of Education last week.
Flowers grew up in Dothan, where he played for Northview High School, now known as Dothan High. Flowers was a walk-on at Alabama State University, or ASU, where he played quarterback and defensive back.
Flowers also earned both his bachelors and masters degrees in physical education at ASU. Flowers will also be serving as the physical education teacher at Central High School Coosa County.
Flowers started his coaching career at his alma mater, Northview High School, and moved on to coaching in Demopolis, Southside-Selma High School and Wenonah High School.
Flowers has a record of improving programs, which we look forward to him replicating at Central High School.
One of Flowers’ goals for the Cougars is to turn Central into an above .500 team, improving on our 3-7 record last year. Flowers’ goals for the program are for Central Coosa to be known in the state as a
football team that will play tough every week and put Central Coosa in playoff contention, something we last did with our turn around program in 2016.
In the short term, Flowers plans to run a disciplined and respectable program and instill in the student athletes a mentality of playing hard and tough and never giving up.
Flowers is no stranger to discipline, as he grew up as a military dependent and has four brothers who serve in the military.
Please join us in welcoming the Flowers family to Central Coosa, including his wife, Deondria, and their four children, Steele, Daniel, Denim, and Drue. Go Cougars!
