Nicholas Michael Smith of Goodwater has been named an Emerging Scholar at Jacksonville State University in recognition of their outstanding academic performance as a dual enrollment student in Spring 2024.

Emerging Scholars earn GPAs of at least 3.5 or higher while taking classes at the university and attending high school. Smith is a student at Sylacauga High School.

Located in the Appalachian foothills midway between Birmingham and Atlanta, Jax State offers more than 150 courses of study, including more than 40 online programs, at the undergraduate and graduate level.
