In a special evening program, seniors, family, friends, and faculty were beaming with pride for our seniors. The night started with scholarship awards and continued with multiple scholarship awards throughout the evening for a combined total of more than $2 million for the 58 graduates. Thank you to the numerous organizations who sent representatives to award our seniors with their scholarships.
This was the inaugural year of the awarding of the Adam Russell Memorial Scholarship. The family of Central graduate Adam Russell; led by his mother, Robin Brooks, and stepfather, Fred Brooks; shared the story of the tragic death of flight nurse Adam Russell in the line of duty. The scholarship serves as an opportunity for Adam’s legacy to continue and a reminder of his pride in his alma mater.
Seniors were also recognized for their academic excellence, including 3.5-plus grade point average, Outstanding Student and Most Improved Student in each subject, and Top 10 seniors, including Valedictorian Sidney Thornton, Salutatorian Eden Nickolson, Rebekah Burton, Kristasia Harkins, Caroline Thornton, Abigail Hyatt, Keira Hilyer, Brooklyn Lee, Madison Jennings, Mariah Gilbert, Kamora Wilson, McKay Kelley, and Elijah Richardson.
Top 10 seniors also presented a faculty member with a Golden Apple Award in appreciation for what they do.
iReady medals were earned by Brooklyn Lee for the highest reading score earned and McKay Kelley for the highest math score.
Career Tech program completers were also recognized. The first place winners of the senior Escape Room Game; Kamilya Canada, Heath Joiner, Eden Nickolson, and Savannah Snell; each received a framed copy of the U.S. Constitution.
Clubs recognized their members, including 15 senior Student Government Association members who received their medals for a combined total of 663 hours volunteered in service to their school and community. Everyone could feel the Cougar Pride in the Central Gym as numerous seniors received awards.
