A burglary and theft case that was initiated in March led to petitions recently being signed in the case.
On March 13, Deputy Payton responded to a call on County Road 29 in reference to a burglary and theft of property.
Upon Payton’s arrival, he met with the victim who stated that a building on the property had been broken into and items taken from inside the building, as well as two four-wheelers that were outside the building. It was later found that a firearm had been stolen from inside.
After the initial report was taken, the case was turned over to investigations. During the investigation, Sgt. Ward received anonymous tips regarding the location of the four-wheelers.
Those were located and recovered, with all stolen items being recovered on April 23 and returned to the victim.
Two suspects were identified at the time and interviewed. That culminated in petitions being signed for two juveniles for third-degree burglary and first-degree theft of property.
