A Sylacauga man was arrested last Saturday in the Stewartville area on two charges, including a drug-related charge.
On April 27, Deputy Payton responded to the Stewartville area regarding a white male subject sitting in a roadway playing guitar.
During the on-scene investigation Payton identified the subject as Daniel Everitt Newsome. He had a beer beside him, and it was determined that he had been drinking.
Further investigation also found that Newsome was in possession of a controlled substance at the time, specifically methamphetamine.
Newsome, 42 years old of Sylacauga, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (meth) and public intoxication.
His bond was set at $5,500, and as of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jaila waiting trial.
