Equality & NIxburg News
Jennifer Williamson
I was able to get some drywall up with help from Jeff Moe who has been coming to help me for the past few years a couple hours a week. Mostly with yard work, but with the rain and needing things completed inside he came in and helped hang some drywall in the front entryway.
Last week when there was no rain, he started pulling down the aluminum siding on the south side of the house, and I started painting the boards. A couple hours a week goes a long way in getting things accomplished.
Hopefully by the end of summer the house will be in pretty good shape. Not like the Old Penton place across the street; they have a full crew, and things are really changing over there. But I am not trying to keep up with the neighbors, been working on this house close to seven years now and just want a nice, renovated house to retire into.
Maybe others in the area will be updating or sprucing up their own houses in the area. I know the house next door is being cleared out for a new owner to move in. It has been vacant for a few months, and now the family has decided it is time to sell it.
Another down the street has also been empty for a spell. I would love to purchase it for my daughter and grandson; however, I think there is another buyer who has the funds to purchase it and that is who the owners are going with. I pray for good neighbors who love Equality for the small-town gem it is and want to keep the small town charm.
There is no event at Coosa Live tonight; it is date night for Rodger and I. See you next Friday for Open Mic Night.
Saturday, May 4, is Equality Volunteer Fire Department’s First Saturday fund raising event. They sure could use more baked goods donated for the bake sale, as well as your slightly used items for their rummage sale.
Come join the breakfast for a donation at 8 a.m. and lunch starting at 11 a.m. Bake Sale and Rummage Sale both run the entirety of the day or until items are sold out. Come support our wonderful volunteer fire department.
Also, it is Memorial Day Boston Butt and Rib sale time to help support our Volunteer Fire Department’s efforts. Please contact the Equality Volunteer Fire Department to purchase your ticket for either a Boston Butt or rib or both. They appreciate all those that help support all their efforts.
I depend upon my readers to share with me what is happening within your organizations, churches, neighborhoods, groups, or family to share in next week’s column. Please contact me; leave a voice message or text 256-531-6460 or email at coosacafe@gmail.com.
