Congratulations to Aniya Horton who was accepted into the 2024 Bulldog Pharmacy Camp. The camp, which is facilitated by Samford University’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy, is a great opportunity for Aniya to jumpstart her resume for acceptance into a pharmacy- or medical-related program after high school.
Aniya will be staying on the Samford campus June 23-28 and getting a true college student experience as a program participant. Aniya will be joined by students from across the state who will take part in hands-on lab demonstrations, participate in unique service projects, gain essential patient assessment skills, and tour local health care facilities and pharmacies. The purpose of the camp is to engage and educate students about careers in pharmacy and to encourage and motivate students to continue to enroll in rigorous STEM and Career Tech Education (CTE) programming during high school to establish a strong foundation for post secondary studies.
In order to be selected for this year’s camp, Aniya had to complete an application, submit a high school transcript and have a recommendation from a science or math teacher.
The Coosa County Career Tech Center encourages any student who has an interest in a career in STEM to seek out similar camps this summer and contact CTE Director Hester Hamby to see if the camp might qualify you for a summer camp scholarship made possible by either the CCR or middle school grants that were awarded earlier in the school year.
