AltaPointe Health and The Stepping Up Initiative are partnering together to sponsor the Stepping up for Mental Health event in recognition of May being Mental Health Awareness Month.
The event will be held at Blue Bell Park in Sylacauga, located at 436-498 North Norton Avenue, on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. AltaPointe encourages those interested to bring the whole family for the event, which will include a free Kid’s Fun Zone, entertainment, free giveaways, free Blue Bell ice cream while supplies last, and food trucks.
The Kid’s Fun Zone will feature a water slide, cornhole, face painting, horseback riding, a bouncy house, and crafts.
Food trucks scheduled for the event include Hope’s Shaved Ice, Nik-Nak Candy Shack, Bulldog BBQ, Qwik Chick, and Mac’s 1 Catering.
Entertainment will include a performance by The Southern Dance & Performing Arts Company of “We’re on our Way” and music by DJ Weechie, “The Music Man.”
Additionally, local agencies and programs that will be participating for the Stepping up for Mental Health event include SAFE, the Department of Human Resources, East Alabama Regional Development and Planning Commission, AIDB Senior Services, Coosa Valley Behavioral Health, Cheaha Regional Headstart, Alabama Department of Public Health, Sylacauga Peacemakers, Heritage South, and Bre’s Ministry.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about AltaPointe Health programs, including adult outpatient services, in-home teams, substance abuse services, the Accordia Health family medical care in Rockford, and children and adolescents’ programs, including school-based therapy and after school and summer day treatment services.
