Equality & NIxburg News
Jennifer Williamson
We took our daughter and grandson and headed to Arkansas to witness the eclipse at its totality since we may not be around to do it with them in the future. I took advantage of the trip and met up with a dear old friend of 25 years in Little Rock.
We found a church that was holding a family friendly Eclipse Party with bouncy houses, face painting, balloons, hot dogs, chips, and lots of fun. My husband and I sat in the shade waiting for the moon to move over the sun while our grandson played. Then at the totality our grandson came over to sit with us. It got so dark the streetlights came on.
Our grandson, after looking at the sun disappear behind the moon, yells out, “It ain’t coming back,” and took off his eye protection and started heading back to the bounce house. I had to chuckle but thought what a great attitude. He can’t control the sun and decided that was not going to stop him from enjoying his day whether the sun was coming back out or not.
Rodger’s Shrubbery has vegetables, herbs and flower plants available, as well as hanging baskets with flowers, Kimberly, or Boston ferns. Now is the time to come get your spring plants for both the front porch and garden beds.
Jenny’s General got their antique display cabinets back and rearranged the store. Stop in and see the changes. Is there anything you would like to see in a small country general store that Jenny’s can investigate stocking? Jenny is very open to suggestions.

Tonight, April 12, is Open Mic Night at Coosa Live (formerly known as Equality Performing Arts Center). Come enjoy an evening out enjoying live music.
While it is not mandatory, you are encouraged to bring a dish of shareable food for our “Potluck,” and if you can afford to drop something into the donation jar for the music, it helps keep the lights on. Coosa Live provides free coffee, iced tea, water, and fresh-popped popcorn, as well as some of the potluck offerings.
