A Goodwater man was arrested late last month for failing to comply with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
On March 23, the Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a possible burglary in progress. The caller stated that an individual was at the back of their residence and appeared to be attempting to enter.
Lt. Bradgel Moon responded to the call and made contact with the property owner. He also located the suspect on site, and he was identified as Terrell Lamar Lykes.
Moon spoke with the property owner, as well as Lykes, and discovered that he had recently gotten out of prison and had not registered as a sex offender.
After further investigation, Lykes, 33 years old of the Goodwater area, was arrested for third-degree criminal trespassing, failure to register as a sex offender and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lykes was arrested March 23, and his bond was set at $7,600. As of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
