A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, has claimed the life of a Macon, Mississippi, man.
Jamaiyia G. Foote, 30, was fatally injured when the 1998 Peterbilt tractor-trailer that he was driving collided head-on with a 2023 GMC Sierra driven by Rafael-Andablo, 49, of Harlingen, Texas.
Prior to impact, the GMC left the roadway, struck a cable barrier and went airborne. Foote was pronounced deceased at the scene. Andablo was not using a seat belt at the time of crash, was ejected and transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.
A 3-year-old passenger in the GMC, who was unrestrained, was also injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred on Interstate 59 near Jaybird Road, approximately one mile north of Hueytown, in Jefferson County.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
