We are thankful that once again this year the senior economic students at Central High School received a scholarship to play the Alabama Stock Market Game. This year our Central teams will be competing against 345 teams in the region. The Central seniors have a little pressure though; for the last two consecutive years a Central team from our small rural school won first place in our region for the Alabama Stock Market Game. The economics instructor is proud of our students, but even more proud when she runs into former students and they share stocks they have been buying in real life as adults. The instructor does not give advice on which stocks to buy, but reminds students to use what they have learned about demand to make educated stock picks. In addition, it is inspiring to see how the students are excited about learning; students will come into class and pull up their portfolio to check how their stocks are performing without having to be prompted by the instructor. We are excited to watch how our students perform this year; this week we had a team who was ranked in second place. Go Cougars!
