Union Square News

My daughter, Janice.
February 3 was a chosen day for women to enjoy the goodness of God and to be more informed of His word. Lady Mandy Hill was chosen by God to share His word concerning “faith” and how we can become overcomers by our testimonies.
She testified of her life story, which helped her to grow stronger in her faith. She said her struggle was her strength, and for many of us that is true, if we believe, just keep the faith while we are struggling, and we can pass the test.
She spoke from John 4:1-18. Some of us have heard about the Samaritan woman preached by men preachers, but I have never heard it brought forth like Lady Hill did. She was on fire, focusing on the Samaritan woman’s faith and not her faults. The spirit was high, with director Amber Dash leading us into a worship moment, singing the song “I Speak Jesus.” Wow, I felt that!
It was a wonderful occasion, titled “Chosen Women’s Ministry.” We enjoyed good food and fellowship after. People from other churches came to hear the word of God – Alexander City, Clanton, etc.
Sunday, February 11, was a special day at Rockford Church of God. Pastor Hill preached on listening and watching out for God’s signs.
Black History Month was acknowledged and honored by Amber Dash, who read the history of Thomas A. Dorsey, a great Black musician, composer and evangelist, who wrote the lyrics of the song, “Take my Hand, Precious Lord,” and Ruby sang it as Austin Dash played the piano with such warm spirit. His wife, Amber, also spoke with much empathy about my daughter, Janice, who passed away some years ago on February 11.
No one was aware, and I did not notice at the moment of this date, February 11, was the same date we had made arrangements to honor Black History Month. What a mighty God we serve and a Holy Spirit who is real. My daughter was real, sweet and precious. She served in the church as the Sunday school secretary and an usher faithfully until her death.
Happy birthday to Rockford Church of God’s men of God, Wayne Weeks, Kevin Hines, Thomas Taylor, Andy Coggins, and to all February babies, including Deacon Robert Shaw and Brandi Cousin.
Let’s pray for our country and churches. The enemy is attacking lovers of God through families and friends.
We are praying for all of the Taylors and Smiths families, especially the grandchildren and also my grandson. He has a rough time in February. Praying for my niece Carrie Tuck and son, Tee.
Also praying for Iris Partridge and family in the passing of Billy Partridge, formerly of Rockford.
We are still keeping Lydia Waters and Christa Jennings in prayers. Lydia’s mom was like a mom to Christa.
Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs! Bravo to Patrick Mahomes!
