With the primary election drawing near I would like to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Jamey Johnson, and I am running for the office of circuit clerk of Coosa County. I was born and raised in Rockford and graduated from Coosa Central High School in 1992.
I’ve had a lifelong passion for serving the public which began in my early teens and continues still today as a volunteer with the Rockford Volunteer Fire Department. After high school, I joined the Alexander City Fire Department where I served for 29 years. During my service at ACFD, I served as a firefighter/paramedic, lieutenant, captain and retired in 2021 as the deputy chief.
In addition to my service at ACFD, I served on the Alexander City Police Department’s SWAT team. I have also owned and operated a successful pest control business for the past 15 years.
My work in these roles has given me a unique perspective into the lives of many people and the challenges faced by many. Both the fire department and my pest control business have afforded me with the qualifications to carry out the job duties of the circuit clerk.
If elected as circuit clerk, I will work diligently to maintain records of the court and ensure public access to the office by applying and improving current systems and processes to ensure the office is providing the best service to the taxpayers.
Although the shoes will be hard to fill I am confident that Mrs. Spivey will leave behind a strong foundation of processes that I will continue to maintain and move forward.
I will prioritize the collection of any delinquent costs to generate revenue for Coosa County. I understand the need for well-maintained records, collecting court fines and preparing court dockets, all of which are pertinent to the well being of Coosa County.
If I am elected, I will uphold all basic fundamentals of the office of the circuit clerk and will aim to build a great working relationship with all involved in the judiciary system.
With my experience, my ability to lead by example and my passion, I believe I am qualified to serve as the next circuit clerk of Coosa County. I promise to do my best to uphold the standards of the office of the circuit clerk. I will strive to serve the citizens of Coosa County with dignity and respect at all times, just as I have in my career as a first responder.
I would like to thank all of the people who have supported me during my campaign. Some of you I have known my entire life; others I have had great pleasure in meeting and getting to know.
Throughout my campaign I have learned that one of the greatest pleasures of running for public office is you get to know people that you otherwise might not have, and you get to see how many people truly care about our county.
I would be honored to have your support in my pursuit to be your next circuit clerk on March 5.
