One of the Alabama Course of Study objectives for Math Modeling (a course which requires students to apply math concepts to real-life problem solving) requires students to create a scale model of a complex three-dimensional structure based on observed and indirect measurements. Students worked in groups to plan, build and test their structure. It looks like the most fun was testing the structure to determine if it was built soundly.
