Equality & NIxburg News
Jennifer Williamson
I like the way community works when it works to be a community. During this deep freeze I have seen one ask for help then help someone else in return and so on and so on.
Community working together to help one another during a trial. It would be great if it continues during the best of times, thinking about our neighbors and being a community. So just remember here in Equality and Nixburg we have a good community.
Coosa Fancy Organic Farm on Highway 14 has started a new season of Customer Supported Agriculture (CSA). Help support Coosa Fancy and enjoy 10 weeks of freshly harvested, organically grown seasonal produce! Spring Session: March 23 to May 25 and Summer Session: June 15 to August 17. You can also purchase their spring and summer CSA together for 15% off! (That’s three FREE weeks!) The CSA system offers customers the opportunity to support their local farms and producers via an initial buy-in price, which is then returned through weekly shares of fresh produce. This helps the farm by providing the initial capital needed for operation costs. Call 205-552-4592 or sign up on their website at https://coosa-fancy.com/shop.
Tonight’s live music at Coosa Live (formerly known as Equality Performing Arts Center) has been canceled. The booked performer has had to cancel so there will not be a live music event. Next Coosa Live event will be Open Mic Night on February 9. Hope to see you then.
Saturday, January 27, at 4 p.m. is Bingo at the Equality Volunteer Fire Department Hall on Highway 9. This is a fund-raising event to support the Equality Volunteer Fire Department. It is $1 a card, lots of fun, with concession sales. All proceeds support the EVFD, so come join the fun.
Don’t forget Equality Volunteer Fire Department’s first Saturday is fast approaching and sure could use more baked goods donated for the bake sale.
Come join the breakfast for a donation at 8 a.m., and lunch starting at 11 a.m. Bake Sale and Rummage Sale both run the entirety of the day or until items are sold out. Come support our wonderful volunteer fire department February 3.
I depend upon my readers to share with me what is happening within your organizations, churches, neighborhoods, groups, or family to share in next week’s column. Please contact me; leave a voice message or text 256-531-6460 or email at coosacafe@gmail.com.
