Rodger Williamson wrote about preparedness in his political opinion column last week, and this week I spent a lot of time and effort preparing for the winter storm.
I hung tarps at the entryway of the barn to keep the cold out and laid a lot of straw bedding for all the animals. I have ceramic heat lamps for the most vulnerable of our livestock. I prepared best I could to keep our animals safe in the forecast Artic blast coming through the area. I hope everyone in our area was able to prepare to stay warm and safe during this time of freezing temps.

Tonight, January 19, is Karaoke Night at Coosa Live (formerly known as Equality Performing Arts Center). Come enjoy an evening out enjoying live music.
While it is not mandatory, you are encouraged to bring a dish of shareable food for our “Potluck,” and if you can afford to drop something into the donation jar for the music, it helps keep the lights on. The EPAC provides free coffee, iced tea, water, and fresh-popped popcorn, as well as some of the potluck offerings.
Sunday, January 21, Equality Methodist Church invites all to the Equality Methodist Church’s Men’s Community Breakfast at 8 a.m. in the EMC fellowship hall. To celebrate the New Year, the women of Equality Community are invited to attend this delicious breakfast! Speaker Gary Taunton will share some of his missionary experiences with us.
Great food and fellowship make this a wonderful community-wide event to kick off 2024. Ladies, the men are cooking for us! Guests, visitors and Equality neighbors are invited to attend. All welcome!
Thursday, January 25, at 6 p.m. is the Equality Neighborhood Watch meeting at the Equality Volunteer Fire Department Hall (old Masonic Hall building) on Highway 9. Come join us for an informative evening, enjoy the potluck, and fellowship with your Equality neighbors.
Saturday, January 27, at 4 p.m. is Bingo at the Equality Volunteer Fire Department Hall on Highway 9. This is a fund-raising event to support the Equality Volunteer Fire Department. It is $1 a card and lots of fun. There will be concession sales, and all proceeds support the EVFD, so come join the fun.
