Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
I had a short beach vacation with two of my daughters while school was out. Saturday was beautiful, and Sunday ended up really cool and windy, but it was still fun.
Tonight is homecoming! They are playing B. B. Comer with the game starting at 7 p.m. with the homecoming queen crowned and the court presented during half time. Come out and see who the new Homecoming Queen 2023 is. There will be a homecoming parade at the Keith Bullard stadium at 2 p.m.
Sardis Baptist has its fall festival scheduled for Sunday, October 29, beginning at 4 p.m. The theme is “Autumn leaves; JESUS does not!” They have activities for the whole family.
Everyone is invited to worship with Providence Baptist. Sunday School begins at 10 a.m. with classes for all age groups and worship service at 11. We also have Sunday night worship at 6 p.m. Also, on Sunday, October 29, we will have a fellowship meal after the morning service, and all are invited.
The Coosa County Historical Society meets this Sunday, October 22, at 2 p.m. at the Edgewood Plantation owned by Debra Lamberth. It is located at 14946 Alabama Highway 22, Rockford. Everyone is invited; you don’t have to be a member to attend. Refreshments will be furnished by members. So, come out and see this beautiful restored old home.
Please continue to be in prayer for Israel and its people, as well as the American families that have been killed or kidnapped. This is such a tragic situation.
My Bible verses this week are from Psalm 56:1-6, which reads, “Be gracious to me, God, for man tramples me; he fights and oppresses me all day long. My adversaries trample me all day, for many arrogantly fight against me. When I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not fear. What can man do to me? They twist my words all day long; all their thoughts against me are evil. They stir up strife, they lurk; they watch my steps while they wait to take my life.”
This is a prayer from David for protection against those that would harm him. The Bible teaches us that no suffering is purposeless. God sees and knows everything and will hold those that persecute us accountable in the end.
David is submitting to God’s will regardless of the outcome. Even though he fears for his life, he knows what God has said, that He is gracious and trustworthy. Troubles and fear can either drive a person away from God or to God; David chose God.
David’s fear did not go away, but he didn’t allow it to drive a wedge between him and God. David knows that man can hurt you physically and mentally, but if you believe and trust in God, you will overcome all.
Pray for those in our community that are experiencing sickness. We need to remember the shut-ins and their families, as well. So please pray for their healing in God’s will. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
