A Montgomery man was arrested last week on a theft-related charge for an incident that occurred late last month.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that on September 16, the investigations department received a call about a case of theft by deception.
The investigation determined that the victim sold a Polaris RZR side-by-side to two individuals, one of whom was identified as Jalen Jermaine Williams.
Investigators learned that the suspects gave the victim a cashier’s check for $40,000 for the Polaris. It was later found that the cashier’s check was fake.
As such, Williams, 25 years old, was arrested on October 3 and charged with first-degree theft by deception. Hammond stated that it was a first-degree charge because the total amount was more than $25,000.
Williams’ bond was set at $30,000, and he was released on bond on October 4 to await trial.
