Ms. Belyeu is the seventh and eighth grade math teacher at Central High School. This year marks Ms Belyeu’s twenty-third (23) year in education. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Ms. Belyeu works with the SAFE program, tutors students after school and visits parents and students in their homes as part of our Community and School Engagement program. Ms. Belyeu says her teaching philosophy is simple, “I teach my students in the same manner I would want someone to teach my own child.”
She added, “It absolutely makes my day when I see a student who did not understand or like math, begin to understand and love it. I have seen so many of my students become more confident in their math abilities, and they are so happy! I always try to make my students feel comfortable with making mistakes.”
Ms. Belyeu’s motto is, “We learn by making mistakes.” In addition, Ms. Belyeu tries to make sure her students understand that any acquired knowledge must be used to help others who have not yet acquired it. She also creates a classroom environment that is positive and is always about uplifting and encouraging others.
Lastly, Ms. Belyeu wanted to add, “Central High School is a great place to work because we are family here!”
Congratulations, Ms. Belyeu; you are a blessing to our school system.
