The Buzz
Buzzy the Buzzard
Last week I didn’t get around to discussing Rockford’s noise ordinance. Well, just don’t get me started on noise.
The ordinance dates back to 1923. I am glad I hunt by sight because I never could have adapted to the many noises we accept as normal today. Let me list a few: amplified music, radio and TV; semi trucks with exhaust brakes or hitting the rumble strips on the highway; outdoor power equipment like weed whackers and zero-turn lawn mowers; construction equipment; and logging equipment. All of these can be heard for miles.
There are a few more local noises that are still around, too. Like dogs that bark all night and roosters that start crowing at 1 a.m.
With this range, I don’t see how our town council can come up with a blanket ordinance that is fair. I hope they provide ample opportunity for public input on this one. Don’t let a short-sighted ruling impact your life.
I am your eye in the sky, but you have to be the voice of reason.
Love,
Buzzy
