Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
Hello October! Hopefully now that it’s officially fall our weather will be cooler. While mornings have been a little cooler, I’m ready for cooler days.
Happy birthday to all having birthdays this month, including two of my great-granddaughters and my youngest brother.
I took a little trip last week and came back with a visitor, the flu! However, I went to urgent care, and they gave me Xofluza, which is one pill instead of Tamiflu. Took a couple of days before I felt I was on the mend; I just had to quarantine and was good to go. So glad I won’t miss my granddaughter’s wedding on Saturday.
School gets out for fall break next week beginning on Friday, October 13. They return to school on Tuesday, October 17. The next extended school holiday will be in November for Thanksgiving, so enjoy this short break.
Providence Baptist welcomed our new pastor, Brother Andy Dickson, Sunday. Looking forward to seeing what is forthcoming for our church. If you don’t have a church family, you are welcome to attend Providence. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. with classes for all age groups, and worship service is at 11.
October is Pastor/Minister Appreciation Month. Express your thanks and appreciation for your spiritual leader this month. God has called them to lead and guide us. We need to let them know they are appreciated.
Since traveling this week and being sick, my Bible verse this week is about comfort and healing. Psalms 73:26 reads, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” while Psalms 6:2 reads, “Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint. Heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony.”
Those two verses have definitely defined me this past week. I can’t remember the last time I had the flu, but I don’t remember hurting so much, maybe because my bones already ache a lot. I always get a flu shot, but the flu got me first this year; I don’t wish this on anyone. But it’s such a comfort to know that God is with me when I am at my weakest.
God gives me the strength to get through each day regardless of what state my body and mind are in, to face whatever life has in store. Being sick can be a humbling experience because often you need to depend on someone else to do it for you. My family has been great, checking on me, seeing if I needed anything, but knowing God is the greatest assurance I have. That comfort for my soul also heals my body!
Pray for those in our community that are experiencing sickness. We need to remember the shut-ins and their families, as well. So please pray for their healing in God’s will. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
