Numerous individuals and families came out to Rockford Baptist Church Saturday, waiting patiently for their numbers to be called so they could receive assistance with an outpouring of care and support.
Last Saturday, July 29, the church hosted Super Saturday Giveaway, a quarterly event sponsored by Acts 1:8 Ministries, Shepherd’s Closet, Manna Ministries of Rockford Baptist Church, and Sowing Seeds.
Based on the coverage area the ministries are allowed to assist, the three-hour giveaway event was open to residents of Coosa, Chilton, Elmore, and Tallapoosa counties.
Those who came out to “shop” through the event were able to get clothes, shoes, household items, hygiene products, and an array of groceries.
In these trying times and with inflation, the church had more families than usual respond to the event, showing the need for assistance.
By the end of the Super Saturday Giveaway, the ministries had given out approximately 5,200 pounds of food and served more than 80 families.
The group gives a special thanks to County Commissioner John Forbus for assisting with the giveaway, as well as other volunteers who lent hands to help the effort.
