A Weogufka man was arrested last Thursday on drug-related charges following a call to service.
According to reports, Deputy Scott responded to a domestic call on County Road 29 in the Weogufka area. He made contact with and spoke to the individuals on scene to gather information regarding the service call.
During the process, one of the individuals, Donald Floyd Gissendanner, asked the deputy to retrieve something for him from his shirt pocket. The deputy proceeded to do that, and in retrieving an item for Gissendanner, Scott also pulled out a container of marijuana from the shirt pocket.
Gissendanner, 50 years old of Weogufka, was arrested June 22 and charged with first-degree possession of marijuana and second-degree possession of drug paraphernalia.
Gissendanner has a prior marijuana charge and conviction, which is what led to this offense being a first-degree charge.
His total bond for both charges was set at $7,500, and as of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
Anyone who observes or suspects illegal activity is encouraged to report it to the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922 or online at www.coosacountyso.org. Anonymous tips are also welcome.
