On Wednesday Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall announced the arrest of a Jefferson County man on multiple counts of possession of child pornography.
Russell John Sweeney, 48, of Hoover, was arrested last week by special agents of the Attorney General’s Office with assistance from the Hoover Police Department and the University of Alabama Police Regional Evidence and Analysis and Cyber Intelligence Team. He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail, and his bond was set at $60,000.
Sweeney was arrested on a warrant brought by special agents of the Attorney General’s Office. He is charged in Jefferson County with two counts of possession of child pornography, a class C felony. If convicted, he faces a penalty of one year and a day to 10 years for each count.
