A Stewartville man was arrested late last month on drug-related and other charges, including failure to appear warrants.
Sheriff Michael Howell reported that on April 21 Deputy Scott was on patrol in the Stewartville community when he initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of County Road 150 and Ed’s Lane.
Scott proceeded to make contact with the driver, 53-year-old Jason Scroggins of Stewartville. It was later determined that Scroggins had three outstanding warrants through the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear.
Additionally, Scott located two firearms in the vehicle, along with a small amount of methamphetamine and a pipe used to smoke illegal narcotics.
Scroggins was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
His total bond was set at $11,500, and as of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
