An inmate who was previously arrested on additional charges while in custody has now had one more additional charge added while in custody.
Christopher Nelson, 20 years old of McCalla, has been held in the Coosa County Jail for a case involving sodomy and other charges. Now a new case of first-degree rape was recently presented to the grand jury, and the grand jury returned an indictment for that charge.
As such, Nelson was arrested on April 25 at the jail for the new charge and booked for the additional first-degree rape charge.
Nelson was originally arrested February 5 on the charges of second-degree rape and third-degree criminal trespassing.
As reported in the March 31 edition, on March 10 Nelson, who was still incarcerated, was further charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of second-degree sodomy.
This most recent arrest now brings Nelson’s charges to a total of 14. His total bond for the 13 charges remains at $195,500, and he received no bond on the first-degree rape charge.
