There is no shortage of news and events to talk about this week! I don’t even know where to start. If I tried to cover everything, I’d need the entire Coosa County News edition – or a separate edition! But I’ll try my best to be brief and you can Google more details.
I guess I need to address the garbage situation first. It has been a MESS! Let’s start with the circular firing squad that is trying to get the word out. Our MAIN problems in Coosa County are the lack of communication between the “leaders” and the citizens, the fact that we have many people who are not connected on social media, AND many who do not subscribe to “The Coosa County News” or follow them on Facebook. With that said, this fiasco was added to by GFL not sending out notices to their customers and refusing to give the customer list to the county (my understanding).
We only have three employees in the County Commission office to handle all the business of the county, and communication should not be put on them. I suggest every commissioner set up a way to communicate with their constituents – through VFDs, Neighborhood Watch, or some other manner of passing information by social media or word of mouth. And, again, if videos of the Commission meetings were available, we would have no reason to complain about not knowing what is going on.
I do want to call out Probate Judge Ricchard Dean and his staff, plus Mayor Scott White and his staff, for setting up registration sites to help people get set up with the new garbage company. I feel like they went (as usual) over and above their areas of responsibility. Maybe it wasn’t such a bad idea when the probate judge also served as the chairman of the County Commission!
There are also many things going on in our State Legislature and the governor’s office that affect us. Are we going to get $400 back from our taxes, will the Legislature agree to cancel taxes on groceries, will the Legislature vote for our tax dollars to follow our children into school choice, will the Legislature decide to cut spending or spend all the surplus on their pet projects? Governor Ivey is now a lame duck so she doesn’t have reelection to guide her efforts to pass legislation that would not otherwise be considered. Will the hands of law enforcement and criminal justice be tied, or will the statutes be strengthened?
But the scariest issue of all – in my humble opinion – is the dictatorship that is being constructed in our nation’s capitol. Regardless of how you feel about politics right now, make/keep America great SHOULD be the main goal of our government. While all the media are reporting on the arrest of Donald Trump, our government is allowing China and Russia to join forces to bring down our economy, our military and the citizenship of our country.
The number of and the nationality of the illegal immigrants now pouring across both our borders are changing for the worst. These are not simply people trying to come here for a better life. These people are being paid to come here to overload our security, they are being used to bring in illegal drugs in order to pay for the transportation to our borders, and NOW there are Chinese being sent in to be ready when their leadership is ready for a takeover. Exactly who do you think we borrow money from to pay the interest on our huge national debt? This has been going on for YEARS; plus they have been secretly buying property, but now are right out in the public doing it.
And we are almost entirely dependent on the Chinese for everything we buy. Stop and look through your house – in your bathroom, kitchen, bedrooms, and closets – and try to find something made in America. I would bet at least 90% of your belongings are from China.
The only thing that keeps them supplying us is the amount of money they make off our purchasing. Now, aligned with Russia, they are not going to need our money. They are going to want our souls.
It has now been reported that the big balloon our government allowed to fly over our military bases was indeed sending information back to the Chinese government. Russia is shooting down our military and arresting our citizens. Please remember both these countries are controlled by the COMMUNIST PARTY. They are dictatorships where the citizens have no say in how their country is operated, have no freedom to speak out against their government and where people who do just silently disappear.
Look around! If you are truly honest and put aside what you have been programmed to see, you will see the changes that are being made to our country while we aren’t paying attention.
My suggestion – don’t pay so much attention to the news in the headlines. Dig down in what is NOT being openly reported. The media’s job is to pull your attention away from the important stuff! And REMEMBER – TAX DAY is almost here!
