The Apprentice Lineman will work either from CAEC’s West Operations Center, currently located in Verbena, AL, or its East Operations Center, currently located in Titus, AL. (Because this position will eventually require being subject to after-hours on-call status and quick response, this person must live within or relocate within a 20-mile radius of the Operations Center from which employee is assigned to work.)
The Apprentice Lineman (I, II, and III) position progresses and develops the specialized skills necessary for the safe construction, operation and maintenance of a reliable electric distribution system and is actively engaged in an apprentice program to acquire the skills of a Journeyman Lineman. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, serving as an apprentice to a Lineman in the construction, replacement, and maintenance of overhead and underground electric distribution lines, structures, and equipment. The successful candidate should possess a high school diploma or equivalent and must possess, or be capable of attaining, a Class A Alabama Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Certification through an apprentice school, such as Southeast Lineman Training Center (SLTC), is preferred but not required.
