A short meeting of the Board of Education last month primarily consisted of personnel matters, with only a handful of action items on the agenda.
For a certified recommendation, the Board unanimously approved hiring Jennifer Pemberton as an instructional interventionist for the 2025-2026 school year, pending completion of requirements.
The Board also unanimously approved a non-certified voluntary transfer of Erica McVey from 6-hour lunchroom worker to 8-hour lunchroom worker and hiring Aliya Rodgers as a 6-hour lunchroom worker for the 2025-2026 school year.
With a recommendation by Superintendent of Education David Stover, the Board also unanimously approved expenditures as listed on the fiscal year 2025 ETF Advancement and Technology Fund Application. The application had been approved by the State Department of Education.
Additionally, the Board unanimously approved an agreement among the County Commission, Board of Education and Sheriff Michael Howell regarding the school resource officer, beginning October 1 until September 30, 2026. This agreement is reviewed and approved annually for a deputy from the Sheriff’s Office to be a school resource officer for the county school system.
The Board held a called meeting yesterday afternoon for the final budget hearing and to approve the Board’s budget for the 2026 fiscal year.
Following that, the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Coosa County Board of Education will be held at 4 p.m. September 25.
