The cold weather did not keep fans away as they came out in big numbers to cheer the Central junior varsity baseball team on in their opening double header games against Talladega County Central last Thursday. The first game of the night ended with a score of 16-2, and the second game ended with a score of 8-6.
The Cougars kept their winning streak going Wednesday as they beat the Verbena Red Devils with a score of 11-2. The Cougars scored eight runs in the first inning: Kimbrell was struck by a pitch, driving in a run; Cox drew a walk, scoring one run; Davis drew a walk, scoring one run; Thornton singled, scoring two runs; Franklin singled, scoring two runs; and Allen doubled, scoring one run. A double by Tison, and a steal of home by Stevens, helped the Cougars extend their early lead in the second inning.
Overall the Cougars had a strong eye at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. The Cougars also stole 21 bases in the game. Recap powered by GameChanger.
