A Goodwater woman and man were arrested late last month on chemical endangerment charges following an investigation.
According to Chief Deputy Scott Hammond, on December 22 the Department of Human Resources contacted the Sheriff’s Office reporting child endangerment involving chemicals.
The Sheriff’s Office investigated the case, and that investigation showed that the child in question was exposed to methamphetamine.
That culminated in the arrests of 29-year-old Brittany Nichole Whitley and 30-year-old John Ted Whitley Jr., both of Goodwater.
Each of them was arrested on one charge of chemical endangerment of a child. Bonds for each were set at $30,000.
As of press time, both Whitleys remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
