An Equality man was arrested just before Christmas on a domestic violence-related charge.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that on December 23, Deputy Payton responded to a domestic violence call in the Equality area.
Upon arriving at the scene, Payton met with both the victim and the suspect. Reportedly there were numerous marks on the victim left from the offender.
Upon investigation, Payton arrested 32-year-old Laervin Jamahl Jones of Equality. He was charged with domestic violence by strangulation and obstructing governmental operations.
Jones’ total bond was set at $7,500. He was arrested December 23 and was released on bond December 24 to await trial.
