A former escapee was indicted by a grand jury and arrested late last month on that indictment for first-degree escape.
On November 28 Capt. Scott Hammond arrested 49-year-old Richard Mordecai of Alexander City on that indictment. His bond was set at $30,000, and as of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail in Rockford awaiting trial.
Mordecai was one of two men who were inmate workers when they left the Alexander City Work Release Center in September. Mordecai was initially located and arrested for that escape charge on September 21.
