Union Square News

Union Square Neighborhood Watch meetings are not the same after losing President Steve Baker. The first meeting, held Tuesday, since losing him was not an easy task for Vice President Sherry Shaw, who will step up and do the job until the end of the year when we will vote on keeping Sherry (smile).
Sherry is a strong lady who has worked hard and faithfully since the meetings started some years ago. We appreciate you, Sherry.
I could not attend the meeting on Tuesday, but Butch filled me in on what was done and what is next to come. I appreciate Butch, too. He is so helpful.
Secretary Robin Schmidt will do her best to take over Steve’s job as the Union Square Facebook page leader. Robin is a great help, too, in the Square. Union Square residents try hard to work together with the help of our sheriff and deputies.
Sheriff Howell gave his monthly report. Guest speaker, Ms. Jodi McDade, asked everyone to come to Rockford Baptist Church (Pastor Jeff Fuller) to the fellowship hall for community dinner every second Tuesday of the month from 4-7 p.m. to feast and fellowship at no charge. Lady Tina Fuller is always doing a good deed to help the community.
Union Square’s next meeting is October 3, and we will be feasting.
Let me wish all of my friends who I left out in August a belated happy blessed birthday – Wilhelmina Hardy Riley, Maxine Robinson Ware, Daniel Robinson, and Tammy Goggans.
Happy birthday to Shirley Ogle, Charles Simpson and Bonnie Abrams.
Thank you, Maxine, for the nice comments. It was good hearing from you and to know you got away from the big city to enjoy the country life.
We thank God for Coosa County’s upcoming animal shelter, and special thanks to Mr. Dennis Hill, manager and chairperson, and to all whose hearts are for this great cause. Coosa County is growing. Let us keep praying for better things to come.
Prayer list: The Higgins family, Mrs. Charlyne DeBardelaben and others who are in the valley. We pray for all pastors and churches.
Many people are worried about all the crazy things that are happening in the world today. People don’t feel safe in their own homes, churches, riding in their cars, etc. God spoke of these days and told us in His word what to do.
Mommy said there will be days like this. These days are here. But we know what to do. Let’s do it. Confess our sins and pray. God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness if we confess our sins (I John 1:9).
