Neighbor of the Month Terry Wilson
The Union Square Neighborhood Watch meeting was extra warm and pleasant on Monday night, with Mrs. Jodi McDade and our new neighbor, Mrs. Jackie, wearing beautiful colors highlighting the atmosphere. Mrs. Jackie even had a Coolgear (coolant) to match her outfit, and it was beautiful.
Former Sheriff Terry Wilson was the neighbor of the month for May.
Sheriff Michael Howell gave his report covering the cold case in the newspaper last week and was happy about the result, but gave former Sheriff Wilson the credit of the beginning. Now that is love and fairness, and we applause that! A community working together.
Commissioner Unzell Kelley spoke on completing the work done on County Road 40 and other important subjects.
Sheriff Howell also mentioned trash pick up. If there is a need please call the Sheriff’s Office.
Union Square’s president Steve Baker has supplied large bags for residents to use. We are so grateful for President Steve. He is doing an awesome job filling in Kenny’s shoes. Kenny would be very happy if he could say so.
Happy birthday, Kenny, on tomorrow, May 7, from the Union Square crew, especially your wife, Sherry; daughter, Robin; and sons, Neal and Johnny.
Mrs. Janice Kilgore won the door prize donated by Pat and Wayne Windsor.
The Barcley men invited everyone to a May Day outing at the cabin on May 21. Fishing for children starts at 7-9 a.m. and adults starting after. Lunch is at 12. Local churches are included. Come and have fun at the cabin on County Road 109 in Union Square.
Next meeting is June 6 at 6 p.m.
Union Square’s Neighborhood Watch crew wants to give a big shout out to some wonderful people and a special thank you to attorney Frank Teel, Union Square’s Mr. Robert Shaw, Judge Jerry Fielding, Sherry and (deceased) Kenny Shaw, Pat Windsor, Mr. Phil Adams Jr., and attorney Wilson Green. We give God all the praise for these special people.
Union Square is a blessed community and not just a neighborhood.
We truly thank Mr. Robert Shaw for being and coming into Union Square for many reasons. One reason is he helps keep the snakes out (smile). There was a song titled “Burn, Baby, Burn.” Well you keep burning, baby, haha. We love you, too, Raymond and Sarah Shaw (the parents of Robert).
Happy birthday to Judge Jerry Fielding on May 9, with another 25 more years to come. He and I joked about the 25 more years. We both turned three-fourths of a century this year, and Dr. Goff delivered both of us. What a blessing we are still here. Thank God.
Happy birthday to my goddaughter June Hoyt on May 7, my chosen granddaughter Jasmine Days on May 8, and also my other goddaughter Brenda Riggins on May 8. Birthday wishes go to all May babies with “May flowers” blooming.
My friend of many years, Betty Sue Cleveland-Brits, and I had a wonderful long distance chat last Saturday that brought many great memories home. Alabama loves you, Milwaukee/Alabama girl.

“Prayer is so powerful it may even change God’s mind.”
