April 18-July 29
The Goodwater Parks & Rec 2022 Summer Program will be held June 6 through July 29 for ages 4-15 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Summer Program will feature arts and crafts, 4-H, reading, bowling, skating, and many more fun activities. Breakfast and lunch will be served each day. Masks are required. Registration starts April 18, and the registration fee is $25, which must be paid at the time of registration. May 6
The C.O.A.C.H. (Cancer Outreach and Community Hope) Ribs, Rhythms and Remembrances will be held May 6 from 5-8:30 p.m. at the West Coosa Senior Center track in Stewartville. Rib plates will be available for $20 each and rib slabs for $30 each. All plates and slabs must be pre-ordered by May 1. Survivors walk will be at 6 p.m. Music by the Lard Bucket Band. Bring your chairs and enjoy the music under the stars.
May 7
Coming to the Weogufka Center’s Amphitheater, country music’s great T. Graham Brown! Also performing will be the Griffith Family. This concert will be held Saturday, May 7, beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online at www.griffithfamilymusic.com or at the door. You may also call 256-369-1098 for ticket locations. VIP tickets are $40 each, and general admission tickets are $20. Bring your own chair or blanket. Food will be available. Show produced by GFM, Griffith Family Music.

Equality Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its monthly first Saturday fundraiser this Saturday, May 7, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will be having hamburgers, hot dogs, a bake sale, and a rummage sale in Equality at the old fire station (by the Quality Gas Station) on Alabama Highway 9. Lunch will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bake sale begins at 8 a.m., and the rummage sale will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come out and support your local VFD!

Goodwater Parks & Rec will host Movie Night at 7 p.m. Friday, May 13, at the Goodwater Auditorium. Ages 10-17. Entry: $3. For more information call 256-743-1252.
May 14-July 2
The inaugural season of UpWard Coosa Sports is kicking off, and game dates and times have now been announced for basketball and cheer! The opening ceremony will be held Saturday, May 14, at 9 a.m. at Central. The game schedule is Saturdays at Central with Tigers vs. Yellow Jackets at 10 a.m. and Lions vs. Rattlers at 11 a.m. Those game days are May 14, May 21, May 28, June 4, June 11, June 18, June 25, and July 2. Concessions will be available at each game. The end of season celebration will be held post games on July 2 at 12 p.m.
May 16
Let your light shine! The Goodwater Police Department is inviting citizens to join them on Monday, May 16, at 8 p.m. “One team, one fight, one prayer can change everything!” Chief Corey Shaw and the department are asking the citizens within the city limits and police jurisdiction of Goodwater to let their lights shine by flashlight or cell phone. Citizens are welcome to come to the Goodwater Police Department, or to come stand on the sidewalk and around town or in the parking lot. Let’s stand together and fight crime.

The Coosa County Soil and Water Conservation District supervisors will meet on Monday, May 16, at 10 a.m. at the Coosa County Soil and Water District Office located at 226 Coosa County Road 157, Rockford.
May 17-18
A ServSafe workshop will be held May 17-18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the E-911 Center located at 66 Communication Drive in Rockford. This is a Coosa County ServSafe Certification Training sponsored by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. The cost is $140 per person and includes two full days of instruction, textbook and certification exam; or $80 per person for the retest, which includes two full days of instruction and certification exam. Upon successful completion of the exam you will receive the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation ServSafe Certificate. Who should attend: managers, cooks, chefs, wait staff, supervisors, owners, and all food handlers. The ServSafe program is approved to meet the requirements of the ADPH. Registration must be made at least one week prior to the scheduled date. June 3-August 5
BridgeWays will be offering a day camp this summer in Coosa County, open to children entering kindergarten through fifth grades in fall 2022. The day camp will be held at the Rockford Event Center from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Breakfast and two snacks will be served daily. Activities will include outdoor games, field trips, service projects, reading support, arts and crafts, social skills, team building, and more. Held on Fridays from June 3 through July 1, $15 per day. Week-long dates include July 5-8 for $64 since it is a short week, and $80 for week-long day camps from July 11-15, July 18-22, July 25-29, and August 1-5. Weekly
The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. Quarterly
The Hanover Neighborhood Watch Meeting is held quarterly, typically on the third Tuesday of the month, at the Hanover Volunteer Fire Department building at 6:30 p.m. The spring meeting will be held the third Tuesday in March, the summer meeting on the third Tuesday in June, and the fall meeting on the third Tuesday in September. The winter meeting will be held in December, with the date to be determined at the fall meeting. Always a potluck meal before the meeting begins, and sometimes a special program to follow. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. Y’all come!
